On the 4th March our Community Programme in partnership with London School of Economics Ladies held a highly successful 'Girls Give It a Go' Day at the club.
The Ladies who are coached by our own Kieth Hughes organised and ran a 9 station skills session. This involved all the elements of rugby from Tackling to kicking, passing to evading.
153 girls of Yr8 and Yr9 age groups attended from our local partner schools Robert Clack, Jo Richardson, Warren, All Saints and Eastbury. The day was considered a tremendous success by all the students, their staff who attended with them and the Ladies of LSE.
The day was rounded off with lunch and a Q&A session in the hall when the ladies were asked of how they became involved in playing and also their student experiences. We were delighted to see Fiona Miley of London Sport attend and also Mr Paul Hogan of LBBD both tremendous supporters of our Community Programme.
Jessica Davies the LSE Ladies captain addressed the girls before departure and the schoolgirls were cheered off the pitch by LSE through a tunnel.
Plans are already underway for another event next year which was asked numerous times by those attending.
A big thank you from me must go to Kieth, Jess and all the LSE Ladies for there tremendous effort in putting a very enjoyable and organized day together. Our schools for attending and from this we have seen an increase in numbers for our Girls Only sessions and Dawn and Donna for their hard work arranging hot food and drinks throughout the day.
