A surprise late change to the team saw Marcus Bloomberg move from hooker to centre, where he made an enormous impact in attack and defence, although he still found time to throw in at lineouts.
Pulborough arrived late because of the traffic chaos either side of the Dartford Bridge and quickly found themselves 21-0 down with a rampaging Barking pack threatening to overwhelm them completely.
Barking then suffered something of a wobble, with the visitors pulling back to 21-17 at half time and taking a 21-24 lead early in the second half.
However, this served to stir Barking and the pack began to regain their earlier dominance. Four tries came in the second half to one more from Pulborough and Barking ran out jubilant and deserved 45-31 winners in what was a first major step towards the team's rehabilitation.
